From May 7 to 16, 2018,MolecularIdentification of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp cubense Workshop, funded and hosted bytheFood and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO),organized bytheInstitute of Fruit Tree Research,Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GDAAS), co-organized bytheAgricultural Biological Gene Research Center, washeldat GDAAS, withtheparticipationof 13 plant diseasequarantinetechnicians from Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and other relevant countries in theGreater Mekong Subregion.Theworkshop was executed by members of the banana geneimprovementteam oftheGDAASInstitute of Fruit Tree Research. The experts trained in VCG analysis,pathogenicityidentification and resistance evaluation, and combined the training with field investigation andlaboratoryoperations. Through the training, the trainees masteredtheprinciple and method ofFusarium oxysporum f.sp cubenseidentification. FAO official Othman Yusof spoke highly of training quality, expressed gratitude for GDAAS' efficient organization, and added that FAO would further deepen cooperation with GDAAS to organize more training, declare South-South cooperation projects and promote the sustainabledevelopmentof the banana industry.
